Volusia County public records are not stored in one database. Court cases and recorded documents are handled by the Clerk, parcels by the Property Appraiser, property-tax payments by the Tax Collector, inmate custody by County Corrections, and Sheriff incident reports by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

Search Volusia County Court Records
The Volusia County Clerk’s Online Public Records page provides Case Inquiry for Circuit Civil, County Civil, Family Law, Probate and Criminal case records.

The Clerk notes that many public document images appear directly on the docket, while some documents must first be requested and reviewed before they can be released for online viewing.
Why a known case may not appear
Records made confidential by statute or court order are excluded from public access. A missing online document therefore does not automatically mean the case or filing does not exist.
Search Volusia County Inmate Records
Current county custody is handled by the Volusia County Division of Corrections—not the Sheriff’s Office. The County provides an official Inmate Information Search for this purpose.

- Search for the person using the available identifying information.
- Confirm the booking and custody details.
- Save the booking number if displayed.
- Use the Clerk separately to check the related criminal court case.
Volusia County says its public inmate information is updated every 15 minutes. The County also cautions that the online information is for general informational use and is not the official record for legal action.
Request a Volusia Sheriff’s Office Report
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office Records Section is the central repository for incident reports and Florida Traffic Crash Reports generated by VSO.
- Select the Public Records request option.
- Identify the incident or crash report you need.
- Provide the report number when known.
- Add the incident date, location and involved names.
- Use the online, phone, mail or in-person route shown by VSO.
If a report is still open or a capias has been requested, VSO says it may not be available to anyone other than the victim or the victim’s representative until the case has a disposition or is closed.
Search Volusia County Property Records
The Volusia County Property Appraiser provides one of the county’s most useful searches. You can look for real property by owner, address, parcel ID or alternate key and then open detailed parcel information.
- Accept the Property Appraiser’s data disclaimer.

Search Volusia County Deeds, Mortgages and Liens
The Clerk’s Official Records include deeds, mortgages, easements, liens, plats, marriage records, military discharges and other recorded documents.

Online records start April 4, 1988
The Clerk states that its online Official Records index and document images cover recorded documents from April 4, 1988 to the present.
Only records that have been recorded, indexed, verified and released for public viewing appear online. A newly recorded document may therefore exist before it becomes visible through the public search.
Need an older deed?
The Recording Department has a public research area with access to Volusia County Official Records dating back to 1887 through microfilm and digital media. Appointments are recommended when access to original historical books is required.
Check Volusia County Property Taxes
The Property Appraiser determines assessed values and exemptions. The Volusia County Tax Collector handles the property-tax account and payment.
